Featured on YouTube! Showing Mango from From Here to There Around
I had such a brilliant day this year taking Mango from the YouTube channel From Here to There out on a tour around the Falkland Islands — and now the video’s live!
🎥 Watch it here: Life in the Falkland Islands’ Only Town
Mango came all the way to experience what life is really like in Stanley — the Falklands’ only city — and explore a few of our most stunning local spots. I was thrilled to show him around and share a proper local view of island life.
Starting the Day at Yorke Bay
We kicked things off at Yorke Bay, one of my favourite beaches on East Falkland. The turquoise water and pure white sand always take your breath away, even on the windiest day. It’s the kind of place that feels completely untouched — peaceful, wild, and full of character.
We chatted about the wildlife that calls the area home (including the penguins, of course!) and how locals love heading out there for a bit of sea air and quiet. It’s one of those spots that perfectly captures the Falklands’ mix of beauty and remoteness.
Next Stop: Cape Pembroke
From there, we made our way out to Cape Pembroke, the most easterly point of the islands. The road out there might be a bit bumpy, but the view at the end is always worth it.
The Cape Pembroke Lighthouse stands tall against the Atlantic, with waves crashing below and endless horizon all around. It’s another place I love to show visitors — wild, open, and full of that rugged Falklands charm.
We spent a bit of time soaking in the view and talking about what life is like living somewhere that feels so far from everywhere else — in the best possible way.
We had hoped to find a sea lion bull as they often frequent this area, but we had no luck that day.
Ending the Day in Stanley
After our time out east, we headed back into Stanley to explore the city. We drove along the seafront, past the colourful houses, and chatted about daily life here — from our small, friendly community to how everything revolves around the sea.
Stanley really is the heart of the Falklands. It’s full of history, character, and charm, and it’s the perfect place to base yourself if you want to see more of East Falkland.
Behind the Scenes with Mango
Filming with Mango was such a pleasure — he’s genuinely curious and easy-going, and it was lovely showing him some of the places I love most. Watching the finished video made me smile from start to finish (even though I somehow made myself 2 years younger! haha). It perfectly captures the Falklands as I see them: wild, welcoming, and wonderfully different.
